On 16 October 2023, the complainant paid ₹18,050 to Shree Movers for packing, transporting and unpacking his household goods, including an LED television, to a new address in Gurugram.
During packing in Naraina Vihar, four movers allegedly dropped the TV box, an event the complainant witnessed and documented on the delivery acknowledgement as a fallen box with a damaged screen.
After the company closed his claim, citing no liability, the complainant supplied photographs and the acknowledgment note, which also recorded the television’s pre‑packing working condition and a value of ₹30,000.
The Commission, noting the company’s own acknowledgment of the TV’s value and the lack of a timely reply, ruled the firm deficient in service and ordered a lump‑sum payment of ₹50,000, inclusive of litigation costs, within three months, with a 9% annual interest penalty from 10 July 2024 if unpaid.
