Vithya Ramraj skidded into the bronze position in Nagoya's 400m hurdles final on Monday, clocking a personal best of 54.75 seconds.
Mariam Kareem of the UAE sprinted past her to take gold in 54.31, while Kazakhstan's Adelina Zems claimed silver in 54.58. Ramraj's 54.75 was 0.34 seconds slower than the gold but still a career‑best.
Earlier in the Games, the 26‑year‑old anchored India's mixed 4x400m relay squad, hauling the team to a silver medal with a 3:14.46 finish, a testament to her speed and composure under pressure.
The bronze adds to her tally, matching her previous podium finish at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, where she also took bronze in the same event.
With the Games still on track, Ramraj will now focus on the remaining track events, hoping to build on her momentum and push India higher in the medal table.
