Mumbai Police on Friday seized the 12th suspect involved in the October 18 shooting that targeted Bollywood star Tiger Shroff, bringing the total of apprehended men to 12. The arrest follows a week‑long operation that saw the first 11 accused detained and remanded under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on Thursday.
The incident unfolded around 7 pm in Mumbai’s Juhu area, when multiple guns fired at Shroff’s car as he was leaving a football club. The actor escaped unharmed, but his driver suffered injuries and a bystander was also hurt. The police maintained that the shooting was pre‑planned and linked to an organized gang network.
In court, a judge remanded the 11 suspects to police custody until November 6, after Mumbai Police argued for a 10‑day hold to trace digital and financial trails. Lawyer Ajinkya Mirgal Madhukar highlighted that the ninth accused has only one functional kidney, a fact the court took into account. The court also confirmed that all accused had been charged under MCOCA provisions following a request on October 27.
The 12th suspect, apprehended in Sonipat with assistance from local police, will now be transported to Mumbai on transit remand. Mumbai Crime Branch officials said the investigation remains active, with additional evidence extraction slated for the coming days.
The case underscores the city’s tightening grip on organized crime, as authorities move swiftly to dismantle the network that orchestrated the gunfire. The next court hearing will likely determine whether the remaining defendants face extended custody or trial proceedings.
