The NDTV World Summit 2026, slated for New Delhi on Oct 22‑23, will convene leaders from 150 nations to tackle climate, security and technology. New Delhi’s India International Exhibition Centre will host the two‑day forum amid a backdrop of rising geopolitical tensions in the Indo‑Pacific.
Germany has just appointed Jasper Wieck as its ambassador to India and Bhutan—a seasoned diplomat whose tenure will position him among the summit’s key voices. His role will bridge Germany’s strategic interests with a region on the cusp of economic and security shifts.
Wieck, who joined the German Foreign Service in 1994, has served in Moscow, Baku and Brussels, heading the political division of Germany’s NATO delegation. From 2012 to 2017 he led the Defence and Security Policy division in Berlin, before moving to the Ministry of Defence in 2020. His recent posting in New Delhi began in 2017 as deputy head of mission, a post he left in 2020 to oversee East‑Asia affairs.
His wife, Cordula, and their three children accompanied him during his earlier New Delhi tenure, a reminder that diplomacy is as much about family as it is about policy. On a personal note, the couple’s home in the capital’s diplomatic enclave has become a quiet hub for informal talks with visiting officials.
Wieck will take up his post on the eve of the summit, arriving in New Delhi on Oct 20 to brief the German delegation and set the agenda for his engagement ahead of the global gathering.
