A video that appeared on social media on Wednesday showed a man sitting in an OPD room at Kanshiram Hospital, near Rama Devi Chauraha, speaking to patients and writing prescriptions. Hospital staff identified the man as Dev, the driver of Emergency Medical Officer Ramkesh. Ramkesh was attending a court hearing at the time.
Chief Medical Officer Haridatt Nemi said the hospital has formed a three‑member committee headed by Chief Medical Superintendent Piyush Mishra to investigate the incident. The committee will examine whether Dev examined patients in the OPD, prescribed medicines, and whether similar conduct has occurred before. It will submit its findings within three days.
An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Dev has been removed from the hospital. Authorities are also probing how he gained access to the OPD, how many patients he attended, and whether he prescribed medicines to them.
Mishra has requested an explanation from Ramkesh and has filed a written complaint against the driver at Chakeri police station. An inspection of the hospital was carried out on Tuesday, a day before the video surfaced, but no outsider was discovered at that time, Mishra said.
The committee will review the video and other evidence before assigning responsibility, the hospital said. Its report is expected by Friday, setting the stage for any disciplinary action.
