Assam Police seized two women on the Saraighat Express, a train running from Silchar to Howrah, after a tip‑off flagged the passengers as suspected illegal Bangladeshi nationals.
DCP (Border) Kulandra Nath Deka reported that the officers intercepted the train in Guwahati and detained the women within minutes, citing evidence from the tip.
During questioning, police recovered two Aadhaar cards believed to be forged and a bundle of ₹200 Bangladeshi notes, the agency confirmed.
The pair are now charged under the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950, and will be processed for deportation once legal formalities are completed.
Officials say the investigation will continue to verify the women’s identities, the source of the counterfeit documents, and how they entered the train.
