Prasidh Krishna is ruled out for at least three weeks after a left‑hamstring tear, throwing a wrench into India’s fast‑bowling plans for the New Zealand series.
He slipped off the field in the 31st over of the West Indies match in Guwahati, having bowled just five overs and taken one wicket, bringing his tally to three wickets from the first two ODIs.
The injury came after a blistering spell that saw him bowl a razor‑sharp yorker at 101 km/h, but a sudden cramp in the hamstring forced him off.
Captain Shubman Gill admitted the injuries and scheduling frustrations had left the side scrambling, saying, "It’s been unfortunate with players missing and the lineup not being what we want."
India may need to shuffle the pace attack, with Test‑bound pacers likely to miss the last two ODIs, and the 2027 World Cup plans now hanging in the balance.
The New Zealand ODI series kicks off on 4 November, while the Ranji Trophy opens on 11 October.
