On March 28, 2024, a Tehran summit drew the attention of New Delhi’s Ministry of External Affairs.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said New Delhi would keep a close eye on developments that could affect its security interests.
The talks, reported by Israeli media, aimed to de‑escalate tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, with Iran acting as a mediator.
Sources claim Saudi officials offered financial aid—reported at a potential US$1 billion—to the Houthis, though the transfer has yet to be confirmed.
Jaiswal also highlighted India’s growing engagement with the Maldives, noting that President Mohamed Muizzu’s recent visit to Islamabad resulted in about 20 agreements.
Despite the diplomatic activity, the ministry reiterated that India’s stance on Pakistan remains unchanged following the Pulwama attack, and that no high‑level diplomatic ties have been restored.
