Kapil Parmar smashed his way to the bronze medal in the men’s J1‑70kg at the Asian Para Games, stopping Indonesia’s Rafli Ahnaf Shidqi in a single minute and nine seconds to secure India’s third podium finish on the opening day.
The win came after a dramatic turnaround: Parmar had knocked out Mongolia’s Bat‑erdene Baatarsuren in 4 minutes 53 seconds, only to fall to Junaedi in the last four of the semifinal, before rallying to claim the bronze‑medal bout.
India’s judo squad added to its medal haul with Kokila taking bronze in the women’s J2‑52kg and the shooting duo Mona Agarwal and Avani Lekhara securing gold and silver in the 10m air rifle (SH1), giving India a one‑two finish and a quota for the 2028 Paralympics.
With bronze secured, Parmar’s performance keeps India in the hunt for more medals as the Games shift to football and tennis next week.
