On September 25, Rasik Dulari, a 27‑year‑old disciple of Premanand Maharaj, died after falling from the fourth‑floor terrace of the Mathura ashram, prompting a police inquiry.
Police sources say the ashram confiscates personal mobiles when disciples join, issuing new devices tied to a single SIM, and monitors calls and messages.
Investigators are reviewing Dulari's call logs, chat transcripts, and CCTV to assess whether he suffered mental distress or was under influence of drugs.
CCTV footage shows Dulari leaving his room at 10:25 a.m., stepping onto the terrace, sitting for a few minutes, then falling at 10:36 a.m., with no sign of pain, despite a severe injury to his private part.
The police have taken 85 statements, sent his blood sample for toxicology, and will present the findings to the Delhi High Court by next Friday.
His sister, 32, said he had been silent about his struggles and was eager to leave the ashram.
