Ike Wynter didn't buy a single board for his latest project. He scavenged. The Milwaukee native spent 700 hours transforming 50 pieces of discarded furniture—from old entertainment centers to a 1934 vanity—into 32 three-foot-by-three-foot wooden mosaics of every NFL team logo. No paint. No stain. Just the natural grain and weathered tones of reclaimed wood, meticulously matched to each franchise's color palette.
The NFL approached Wynter in late December 2024 with the commission, a massive undertaking that required him to hunt for specific wood shades across Wisconsin. It’s a logistical puzzle: one entertainment center might yield pieces for the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and New England Patriots simultaneously. But sometimes, the right tone for a single section of a logo meant waiting weeks for the perfect find. He even uncovered a hidden sunburst pattern behind a mirror on a Facebook Marketplace vanity, repurposing that weathered wood for the Miami Dolphins’ rays.
This isn't his first high-profile gig. Wynter, a self-taught artist who started picking up roadside wood in 2016, previously crafted a wooden podcast logo for Mike Tyson and a viral oversized Crayola box. His online videos documenting these transformations have racked up millions of views, turning his humble dumpster-diving hobby into a professional career with collaborations from the Milwaukee Brewers to Notre Dame.
The installation debuted at Lambeau Field during the 2025 NFL Draft, running from April 24 to 26. The pieces lined the Player Walkway, the path drafted players take to the stage. Justin Wright, the NFL Brand Experience Team’s art director, told CBS 58 that Wynter’s work stood out for its distinctive aesthetic and local sourcing. It fit perfectly into the Draft’s 'Built by Community' theme.
With the Draft concluded, the 32 logos now serve as a permanent testament to Wynter’s ability to see potential in what others discard. His next move? Likely back to the curb, hunting for the next piece of unwanted furniture that might hold a hidden masterpiece.
