The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry issued a directive that every household using a domestic LPG connection must complete Aadhaar biometric authentication by September 30, 2026, or else the subsidised price will be forfeited.
The new rule does not bar users from getting LPG; instead, it simply switches them to the market rate. Consumers can verify their status by logging into their provider’s official app—IndianOil ONE for Indane users, HelloBPCL for Bharatgas, and HP PAY for HP Gas customers—and checking the KYC section.
If an app does not display a clear “BAA completed” flag, customers should contact the distributor directly and request a confirmation against their consumer record.
To finish the authentication, users can either have the delivery personnel scan their biometric data during the next cylinder drop, visit a distributor showroom, or use the mobile app’s dedicated BAA feature.
A family in Delhi’s Subhash Nagar, who had only a pending BAA, booked their next refill after completing the biometric scan at the local distributor and avoided paying the higher market price, illustrating how the transition will affect everyday households.
