At a May 10 meeting of the All IITs Placement Committee in Guwahati, the panel voted to suspend cooperation with 22 companies for the next two recruitment seasons after they declined more than 150 job offers to incoming 2026 graduates.
Oracle, the U.S. software giant, is among the firms flagged after it reportedly abandoned roughly 40 offers across IITs, according to sources who said the company had cut thousands of jobs worldwide this year.
The AIPC said placement offices are forwarding the CVs of the affected 20‑30% of students to other recruiters, but no complete data exist on how many remain job‑searching.
AIPC will send formal letters to the companies by Sept 30, and the committee will publish a finalized list of non‑cooperative firms after individual IITs submit their latest case statuses.
