On the opening day of the 2026 Durga Puja, the airport’s Arrival Village welcomed the 'Utsav Aarambh' exhibit, its first festive event since the terminal’s 2015 expansion.
The showcase stitches Durga Puja‑themed banners, intricately carved wooden stalls, and melodic folk tunes into a tapestry that mirrors Assamese traditions.
Visitors can stroll past stalls laden with handcrafted textiles, bamboo baskets, and glazed pottery while sampling local sweets like pitha and savory chaats that echo the region’s culinary palette.
Airport Director, Mr. R. K. Sharma, said the move aims to turn the arrival forecourt into a cultural gateway, giving travelers a first‑hand glimpse of the Northeast before they enter the city.
The display will remain active until the festival’s end, ensuring continuous exposure for artisans and vendors and reinforcing Guwahati’s image as a vibrant cultural hub.
