Shares of Jupiter Wagons Limited jumped 8% to ₹198.00 after the company announced a ₹1,140 crore contract for 2,583 wagons from the Ministry of Railways. The intraday high reached ₹198.00, breaking past the ₹196.50 mark seen earlier in the session.
The order, the biggest single contract for the firm this year, dwarfs its previous private‑sector orders, which totalled roughly ₹500 crore last quarter. Adding 2,583 wagons to its production line strengthens the company’s position in a market that has seen a 12% rise in freight wagon demand over the past 12 months.
Managing Director Vivek Lohia said the deal reflects Jupiter’s strategy of backward integration—from castings and bogies to wheelsets—allowing tighter cost control and on‑time delivery. The MD also noted that the company’s new wheel‑manufacturing plant in Odisha is now fully operational, a move that should reduce lead times for future orders.
The firm projects an incremental order inflow of about ₹2,000 crore in Q4 FY27, a 20% jump over the ₹1,600 crore net expected by analysts. This boost is expected to lift the company’s revenue to ₹18,000 crore for the fiscal year, up from ₹14,500 crore in FY26.
Jupiter Wagons’ shares are trading 45.85% below their 52‑week high of ₹358.25 and 14.74% above their low of ₹169.08. Despite a 12.7% decline over the last month and a 41.68% drop year‑to‑date, the recent rally aligns with a broader sector uptick, as rail freight volumes are projected to grow 8% in FY27.
The company will announce its Q4 results on November 30, with analysts eyeing a higher-than‑expected gross margin of 22% compared to the 18% margin recorded last quarter.
