Turki al‑Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi‑led coalition, said the Iran‑aligned Houthis launched 20 attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh this month, killing 17 people and wounding 333.
In addition, the group struck Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, killing three and injuring 28. The attacks have further strained the kingdom's already tense security posture.
The coalition claims it has destroyed 127 weapons storage facilities and launch platforms across Yemen's mountainous regions, a move aimed at curbing Houthi missile and drone capabilities that have been supplied by regional actors.
Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa in 2014, prompting a Saudi‑led intervention in 2015. A UN‑brokered truce signed in 2022 largely halted major fighting, but the ceasefire expired six months later and has yet to translate into a lasting political settlement.
The coalition has called on the Houthis to immediately halt operations targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, while the Houthi military spokesperson warned airlines that Saudi airspace and airports remain unsafe, excluding the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
