Bajaj Auto’s latest Pulsar 125 and 150 are not just a facelift – they’re a full‑on rebuild. The 125 now roars at 12PS and the 150 at 14PS, both riding on a new diamond frame that treats the engine as a stressed member. A single‑shock rear suspension gives the bikes a smoother ride, while the higher trim adds a five‑inch touchscreen with Google Maps, three riding modes and a stop‑start system.
For the everyday rider, that means a bike that feels as agile as a scooter but with the power of a true motorcycle, at a price that still sits in the ₹6‑12 lakh bracket. The Pulsar has long been a cult favourite among Indian commuters, but last year its 125cc unit slipped behind Honda Shine – 7.93 lakh units for Bajaj versus 17.79 lakh for Honda. The new build aims to recapture that lost ground.
In the 125cc–150cc arena, the numbers are telling. Honda’s dominance is clear: its Shine captured 49% of the >110cc‑125cc market, while Bajaj’s share dropped to 17% in the latest quarter. Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider have pushed sportier styling into the segment, making the Pulsar’s classic look feel dated to a younger crowd. The revised 150 sits awkwardly between the 125’s growing appeal and the 160cc N160, which already delivers 18.5PS and has seen a 60% jump in sales.
The shift in Bajaj’s strategy reflects broader industry trends. Domestic motorcycle sales grew only 0.6% in FY2026, and Bajaj’s 15.6% market share fell from 16.6%. Yet the Pulsar franchise still pulled in ₹11,000 crore in domestic revenue and ₹16,500 crore overseas, its highest global volumes ever. That shows the brand’s brand equity, even as the company is forced to keep pace with aggressive rivals.
The revamped models hit the market in August 2026, with dealers already stocking the new 125 and 150. Buyers can expect a smoother, more connected ride, but will still need to weigh it against Honda’s proven reliability and Hero’s newer sportier options. The next big test will be whether Bajaj can lift its market share in the 125cc–150cc pocket, a segment that has become a battlefront for every Indian OEM.
