SJVN reported net profit of ₹657.4 crore for FY27 Q2, a 113% jump from ₹308 crore in the same period last year, while revenue surged 117.5% to ₹2,244.3 crore, according to the company’s filing on the NSE.
The EBITDA for the quarter rose 84.3% to ₹1,585 crore, yet the margin contracted to 70.6% from 83.3% YoY, signalling tighter pricing or higher cost pressures in the power sector.
In a board meeting held on May 3, SJVN authorized a proposal to merge its wholly‑owned subsidiary, SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), with the parent company. The move aims to cut duplication, reduce compliance overhead, and rationalise resource deployment, as SJVN said in the press release.
STPL’s paid‑up capital stood at ₹3,131.72 crore with a turnover of ₹520.78 crore as of 31 March 2026, compared with SJVN’s ₹3,929.80 crore capital and ₹3,544.52 crore turnover, underscoring the subsidiary’s modest scale relative to the parent.
The merger is exempt from related‑party transaction rules under MCA General Circular No. 30/2014 and will require government approval; no change in shareholding is anticipated, SJVN added.
Market reaction was muted: shares closed 1.56% higher at ₹53.22 on the NSE, reflecting cautious optimism about the consolidation. The company has not yet issued guidance for FY28, but analysts expect the merger to improve operating leverage and support a gradual rebound in margins.
