Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the CEOs of semiconductor giants in New Delhi on Wednesday, urging them to heighten collaboration as India ramps up its chip ambitions.
Modi highlighted India’s talent pool, technology adoption and infrastructure, noting the country’s goal to train 10 million AI professionals and push into quantum computing.
The roundtable saw representatives from SEMI, Micron, Infineon, Applied Materials, ASML, Merck, Tokyo Electron, Fujifilm, AMD, Intel, Tata Electronics, Lam Research, Rapidus, NXP, Foxconn, Semi Conductor Devices, Advantest, Celesta Capital, CG Power, and IBM Research.
The CEOs praised the government’s sustained efforts and pledged to deepen India’s footprint across the full semiconductor value chain, from design to manufacturing to R&D.
Modi promised that the feedback would be incorporated into policy drafts, setting the stage for the next phase of ISM 2.0, with the cabinet slated to review the proposals in December.
