In a 1‑5 defeat to South Korea, India's men's recurve archery team secured a silver medal.
The final began with a bang—India scored a perfect 29 in their first three arrows, matching Korea's 29 and forcing a tie in the opening set. They needed 28 from their last three to take the set, but an 8 from one of the trio left them short, and the point went to Korea, making it 1‑1.
Korea exploded in the second set, striking a flawless 30 from the start. India, with a 25 in their opening three shots, fell behind immediately. Even though the Indians managed a 50 overall, Korea finished with 57, pushing the score to 3‑1.
In the third set, India opened strong again with a 28, matching Korea. Neeraj's 7 on his second arrow put the pressure on, but Dhiraj finished with a crucial 10, taking the team's score to 54. Korea, however, stayed composed and finished on 56, sealing the gold.
The silver is India's third medal in archery on Friday, bringing the country's total haul at the Asian Games to seven—four golds, two silvers, one bronze. The men’s team had already stunned Iran 6‑0 in the semi-finals, while the women’s recurve trio had claimed gold earlier in the day.
With the mixed recurve final on the horizon, the archers are eyeing another medal opportunity before the Games wind down.
