Atlanta architect Keith Summerour and his family listed the historic town of Gay, Georgia for sale on March 15, 2026, asking $13.5 million.
The 60‑acre parcel sits in Meriwether County, about 50 minutes south of Atlanta, and contains 17 19th‑century storefronts, a cotton gin, a former peach processing plant, and a century‑old mill.
Two operating businesses are bundled with the sale: Towerhouse Farm & Brewery, a craft brewery that nets roughly $510,000 annually, and the Gay Cotton Fair, a biannual festival that draws about 60,000 visitors and generates $750,000 each year. Combined, they produce about $1.26 million per year.
The listing is a rarity in real‑estate markets, according to Bonneau Ansley, founder of Bonneau & Company. “A town with operating businesses and a built‑in customer base is extraordinarily rare,” he said. Filming crews have also eyed the area for productions like "The Walking Dead" and "Lawless."
Potential buyers will be evaluated over the coming weeks, with a closing expected by late summer 2026. Investors are already lining up to discuss how to preserve Gay’s heritage while expanding its hospitality and event offerings.
