Powar arrived in Rajkot on Friday, stepping into the Niranjan Shah nets to fine‑tune the Australian Under‑19 spinners ahead of their clash with India.
India capitalised on a tight New Delhi pitch, dismissing the Australians for a modest total and then chasing a slender target to secure a 7‑run victory in the series opener.
The former Mumbai spinner has already familiarised himself with the CA’s junior setup, having flown in June 2018 to coach the under‑23 side at Brisbane’s Centre of Excellence.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said Powar is also applying for a junior selector’s post, while the board will finish the interview process in the next 15 days. The final Youth ODI against India is slated for Wednesday, with Australia hoping Powar’s expertise will turn the tide.
