Vikram Rai, who joined GE Aerospace in 2012, has steered the company’s commercial engines arm in South Asia since 2017, steering two of the world’s largest engine orders to Indian carriers.
Before GE, Rai cut his teeth at Rolls‑Royce, where he served as general manager for South Asia, and earlier, he helmed HBE‑Aviosec, a niche start‑up in airport broadcasting.
The NDTV World Summit, set for October 22‑23 in New Delhi, will assemble a cross‑section of political, diplomatic, business, tech and cultural leaders to dissect the forces that are reshaping global certainty.
Rai’s session, titled “Powering India's Ascent: Building Aerospace Capability for a Resilient World,” will map how India can leapfrog in engine technology and forge resilient supply chains.
By detailing GE’s roadmap for engine procurement and joint‑manufacturing, the talk could spark fresh contracts that would bolster India’s domestic aerospace ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports.
After the summit, GE Aerospace plans to submit a formal partnership proposal to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, while the ministry will review its viability amidst India’s push for strategic autonomy.
