The government has set a ₹80,000 crore disinvestment goal for FY27, and the IDBI Bank sale is poised to be a major contributor. Market watchers note that the bank’s valuation sits around ₹52.878 cr, leaving a gap that other PSU disposals must fill.
The Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management stressed that the momentum built this year will persist as market conditions allow. He added that surpassing the target would be a positive outcome, reflecting the government's intent to monetise its holdings.
Dividend receipts are a key component of the fiscal strategy. The dividend season has kicked off, with 50% of profits earmarked for special dividends and the remainder retained for internal investment. Oil‑sector volatility could, however, compress dividend flows from that segment.
The LIC public offer, described as the largest to date, sets a benchmark for upcoming sales. The government is also eyeing listings of Coal India subsidiaries and India Infrastructure Finance Company to bridge potential shortfalls.
Looking ahead, officials expect to close any dividend gap by year‑end, contingent on the oil market’s evolution. The IDBI sale’s completion timeline remains undetermined, but its finalisation is expected to lift investor sentiment and enhance liquidity in PSU stocks.
