Randy Pitchford and his wife, Kristy, officially closed on the historic 1851 Outpost Drive home in Hollywood Hills for $6.325 million on April 30, 2026, marking the second major transaction in the property’s recent history.
The 5,906‑sq‑ft Spanish Colonial Revival estate, built in 1929, had been owned by television legend Bob Barker for more than five decades, until his death in August 2023, when the house became a quiet retreat for his family.
London‑based designer Julia Dempster acquired the property in April 2024 for $3.874 million and undertook a $2‑million‑plus restoration that preserved original stained‑glass windows and wrought‑iron details while modernising bathrooms, roof, and kitchen.
The house re‑entered the market in June 2025 at an asking price of $8.195 million, but trimmed to $7.798 million in July, before selling at a price roughly 2.45 million higher than Dempster’s purchase yet below its peak listing. Pitchford, known for founding Gearbox Software and owning the Magic Castle, will convert the residence into a personal sanctuary, underscoring the premium buyers place on heritage properties in Los Angeles.
