On Oct. 13, a protest on the Supreme Court lawns sparked a flare‑up as opposition MP Rahul Gandhi joined a march demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Parashar, a three‑month‑pregnant freelance journalist, told NDTV that she was being harassed by Gandhi’s supporters and that he grabbed her hand, yanking her forward.
The incident left Parashar on the pavement, her knees and stomach slamming into the steps, and she was taken to a Delhi hospital, where she remains under observation.
Congress spokesperson Alka Lamba slammed the story as "shameless propaganda" by the BJP, citing alleged inconsistencies in the timeline and accusing the opposition of manufacturing a narrative.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari countered, saying Congress had failed to offer help and that Rahul Gandhi behaved like a "goon"—a claim that has intensified media scrutiny of the demonstration.
The Supreme Court has yet to issue an official statement, and the police have opened a probe into the incident, while Parashar’s video is under review by the Delhi Police for evidence of physical assault.
