Richa Parashar, a reporter for Oneindia, was hospitalized after alleging that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi pushed her during a protest against the Chief Election Commissioner at the Supreme Court premises in Delhi on 26 April 2024. The incident occurred in the mid‑afternoon, and Parashar, who is three months pregnant, was admitted to a Delhi hospital later that evening.
A grainy video circulated that shows Parashar and Gandhi amid the crowd, but the footage does not clearly prove a push. Parashar insists the video records Gandhi grabbing her hand and shoving her camera operator, causing her to fall.
Congress spokesperson Alka Lamba posted on X refuting the allegations, accusing the BJP of "shameless" propaganda and noting that no X‑ray was performed. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari countered that no Congress worker offered assistance, adding that the party cast aspersions on the journalist.
The controversy has prompted a flurry of rebuttals from Congress leaders, who shared videos of the chaos, while the BJP highlighted the lack of help offered. The incident has drawn scrutiny from political observers and has intensified calls for a formal review of the protest’s conduct.
