It’s India’s first wrestling medal at this edition of the Games, ending a 13‑year wait since the 2023 Hangzhou Games where Sunil also snagged bronze.
Earlier in the tournament, Ravinder Singh and Sunil Kumar Rana had claimed bronze in 2010 Guangzhou, but India had gone 13 years without a medal in Greco‑Roman style.
With the bronze now on the board, India’s wrestling team will push for more podium finishes in the remaining matches, eyes set on the upcoming 92kg and 97kg brackets.
