Eidak, a frontline town in North Waziristan, saw a coordinated strike on Friday that eliminated seven TTP fighters and blew up several hideouts — the Frontier Corps said in a statement released at 10 a.m. local time.
The raid comes after the TTP broke its 2022 ceasefire and has since claimed responsibility for 638 deaths and 221 violent incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during Q3 2025, according to the Centre for Research and Security Studies.
Frontier Corps chief Gen. Ahsan Malik said the operation was part of the Azm‑e‑Istehkam campaign to tighten pressure on the group. He added that intelligence had pinpointed the hideouts days before the raid.
A local farmer, Haji Moin, whose family has farmed the Eidak plains for three generations, said the blast forced him to leave his fields for a week. “We were safe for a long time, but now the army is here, and the ground feels different,” he told reporters.
Interior Minister Anwar Pervaiz announced on Monday that a week‑long sweep will begin in Eidak to locate any remaining insurgents and to secure the Afghan border corridor.
