When Dhanush walked into Chennai’s Rohini Theatre on October 15, the crowd buzzed louder than the opening credits.
The former Rajinikanth‑daughter’s husband had the same electric grin that fans associate with his own blockbuster career—only this time it was for a film starring the very man he’d once married into. He made a beeline to the front row, eyes locked on the screen, and the hush turned into cheers as the first beats dropped. At the end of the reel, he was already typing furiously on his phone, his fingers flying faster than the camera pans. His X post, a flurry of #Jailer2 hashtags and a chorus of “MUST MUST MUST” exclamations, left followers with a clear verdict: this sequel is every Thalaivar fan’s next obsession.
Dhanush’s tweet is just the latest in a flurry of celebrity praise. The film’s momentum is also riding on the back of Vishnu Vishal’s own endorsement, where he called it a “blast” and declared it the most whistled‑for Tamil film in recent times. He even thanked the director, Nelson Dilipkumar, for pulling off a “big blockbuster” that kept him laughing through the mass scenes.
Jailer 2, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, spins a tale of a retired jailer, Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who’s dragged back into danger when his family’s safety hangs in the balance. The cast is a star‑struck line‑up: Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Mithun Chakraborty. From the sidelines, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar return, while Hrithik Roshan drops a special cameo that just adds another layer of star power.
The soundtrack, courtesy of Anirudh Ravichander, keeps the tempo high while Vijay Kartik Kannan’s cinematography captures each explosive set piece with a gritty realism that feels like a high‑octane chase scene. Editor R Nirmal stitches the narrative together so the pacing never stalls, allowing the audience to stay on the edge of their seats even during the punch‑line punch‑lines.
With the buzz already cresting, the next few weeks will reveal whether Jailer 2 can sustain the hype beyond the initial splash. Fans are already lining up for the weekend rush, and the film’s box‑office engines are revving up for a potential record‑breaking run. Stay tuned as we track the numbers and keep an eye on the next wave of reviews.
