Ajay Singh lost majority support as 27 of 35 affiliated units and 8 of 13 ExCo members opposed him in a no‑confidence motion.
The motion was set to be decided in a Special General Meeting, but the Punjab and Haryana High Court put it on hold until November 13, keeping the federation in limbo.
Earlier this week, BFI Secretary General Pramod Kumar, treasurer Pon Baskaran and Vice President Rajesh Bhandari met with Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Raksha Khadse and IOA officials, filing a memorandum accusing Singh of administrative lapses and a "Hitler‑ish approach."
Bhandari warned that every challenge to Singh’s authority has led to suspensions or show‑cause notices, adding that without a reprieve the federation could see a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Rohit Jain, former Delhi amateur boxing head, recounted how the constitution was altered twice to centralise power, suspending state units without notice and sidelining opponents.
With the SGM postponed, the federation’s next move will be the November 13 meeting, where a three‑quarters majority is required to remove Singh—a tall order as the court already intervened.
