At just 18, Shaw captained India to an Under‑19 World Cup title in New Zealand, steering a young side to victory with his sharp bat and calm leadership.
Since that debut, Shaw’s international output has been uneven. In five Tests he amassed 339 runs at 42.37, with one century and two fifties, while in six ODIs he scored 189 runs, highest of 49. His last cap came in 2021, leaving him in limbo.
The Mumbai star’s return to the domestic arena came with a move to Maharashtra for the 2025‑26 season, after a fitness‑concerned omission from the Ranji squad. He now needs to string together consistent innings across the IPL and first‑class circuit to reignite selectors’ interest.
If Shaw can turn the corner in the coming Ranji fixtures and the 2026 IPL campaign, he might earn a recall for the next India tour. The next test match for India is scheduled for November 2026.
