On Tuesday, October 12, BJP leaders accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing a pregnant journalist during a Delhi protest, a claim that shocked the opposition.
Video footage circulating online shows Gandhi gripping the journalist’s arm and shoving her to the ground as she tried to capture the march. The clip, captured by a by‑stander, shows the journalist’s face contorted in pain before she falls.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said the incident was reported to him at 8:30 p.m. when the journalist’s sister approached the party office in Rajendra Nagar seeking help. Bhandari added that they rushed the injured reporter and her husband to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed complications from her pregnancy and ordered admission.
The journalist, whose name remains undisclosed, underwent an ultrasound and X‑ray before being moved to a ward for observation. She has been receiving injections and monitoring since the evening.
Congress has denied the allegations, characterising the footage as a chaotic scene typical of packed rallies. It said Gandhi was simply moving forward in a crowded march.
BJP leaders have called for a police probe into the incident, demanding that authorities investigate Gandhi’s conduct. The case is now pending police investigation.
