Swarnim Wagle, Nepal's finance minister, will take the stage at the NDTV World Summit 2026 in New Delhi on October 23. He is scheduled to speak at 11:15 am on Day 2, headlining a session titled “Proximity to Prosperity: The India-Nepal Opportunity.”
Wagle is no ordinary technocrat. He holds a PhD from the Australian National University and a master’s from Harvard. Before entering politics, he spent over 25 years with the World Bank and the UNDP, working in more than 20 countries. He co-led the assessment of damage after the 2015 Nepal earthquake and served as chief economic adviser at the UNDP in New York.
His political career took a sharp turn in March 2026. Wagle was elected MP from Tanahun-1 for a second consecutive term. He was also elected unopposed as vice-chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). He now serves as Nepal’s Finance Minister, bringing his deep economic expertise to the highest levels of government.
The NDTV World Summit 2026, held on October 22 and 23, will gather political leaders, economists, and policymakers. The theme, “A World Between Orders,” sets the stage for discussions on global economic shifts. Wagle’s appearance underscores the summit’s focus on regional collaboration and economic resilience.
The summit will conclude on October 23, with sessions addressing international relations and the world economy. Wagle’s address is expected to provide insights into India-Nepal trade and investment opportunities. The event will feature other global voices discussing the challenges facing nations in a changing world.
