Kuldeep Singh is working shifts behind the wheel of a rental car to pay for a funeral he cannot afford. His five-year-old daughter, Fabiana Cabello, was found dead at their South Richmond Hill home on October 14. The Uber driver told reporters he is grieving while trying to manage the logistical nightmare of burial costs. "I loved my daughter very much, and losing her feels like I lost my whole world," he wrote on his fundraising page.
The tragedy began around 6:55 pm when police responded to an emergency call at the family residence. Officers found Fabiana unresponsive and rushed her to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead. Law enforcement sources told multiple outlets that Francis Cabello, the child’s mother, placed the 911 call and explicitly stated, "I killed my daughter." Investigators believe the fatal incident occurred between 5:30 pm and 6:55 pm that day.
Criminal complaints obtained by People reveal disturbing physical evidence. Fabiana’s face bore scrapes, and her eyes, heart, and lungs showed petechiae—tiny spots caused by bleeding beneath the skin. These findings are often associated with asphyxia. The medical examiner is still determining the official cause of death. Francis, 32, was arraigned on October 16 and charged with second-degree murder. She did not enter a plea and underwent a psychiatric evaluation at a hospital.
The family is shattered. Franklin Cabello, Fabiana’s grandfather, told reporters they feel "mentally and physically destroyed." He cited their faith in God as their only anchor. Fabiana’s uncle remembered the girl as a source of joy who brought happiness to her grandparents. "She’s a very beautiful girl, you know," he said, recalling the warm hugs she gave family members.
Singh urges donors to contribute toward the funeral home deposit and cemetery expenses. Any assistance would ease the financial burden during this devastating period. Francis Cabello is set to return to court on October 20 for her next hearing.
