Usually, a film in its eighth week is fighting for its life in multiplexes. But Vishal Chaturvedi’s Hanuman Ansh is doing the opposite. The spiritual drama just crossed the 401.20 crore mark in worldwide collections, a number that looks almost absurd for a movie about the early life of Neem Karoli Baba. It’s a quiet, stubborn kind of success.
The numbers back up the word of mouth. On its 8th Sunday, the film pulled in 9.00 crore nett in India. That’s a 38.5% jump from the 6.50 crore it made on Saturday. Occupancy rates spiked to 46.0% across 4,387 shows, up from 37.0% the day before. Shobhinaw Satyaa and Vihaan Shedge are carrying the film on their shoulders, and audiences are clearly keeping them in the theatres.
It’s a strange trajectory. Week 1 brought in a meager 1.08 crore nett. Week 2 was even worse at 40 lakh. But by Week 4, it was making 61 crore, and Week 5 pushed it to 90.25 crore. Now, in Week 8, it’s still earning 44.80 crore nett. The film is set in pre-Independence India and follows Lakshmi Narayan’s journey from a grieving child to a spiritual icon. It’s not a loud, action-packed blockbuster. It’s a slow burn that found its audience.
The Hindi 2D version is the strongest performer, with evening shows hitting a 75.00% occupancy rate. Morning shows were at 30.54%, but the afternoon and evening slots are where the magic happens. The overseas gross has added 38.50 crore to the pot, bringing the total to 401.20 crore. For a film that started with a whimper, it’s ending with a roar.
So, what’s next? The film is still running, and with 4,387 shows on a Sunday, it’s not going anywhere soon. If the 38.5% jump on its 8th Sunday is any indication, the audience is still searching for it. Vishal Chaturvedi’s Hanuman Ansh is proving that spiritual dramas can be commercial juggernauts if the resonance is right.
