Equity mutual fund schemes pulled in ₹38,293.5 crore in September, a 30.6% jump on the ₹29,315 crore haul recorded in August, according to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India.
The industry’s total assets under management slipped to ₹82.64 lakh crore at month‑end, down 5.4% from ₹87.07 lakh crore in August, indicating that while new money is flowing in, outflows elsewhere are outpacing the net inflow.
Within the equity universe, small‑cap funds captured the highest‑ever monthly inflow, a trend that has been reinforced by a multi‑month high in mid‑cap flows and a sharp uptick in sectoral funds. Gold exchange‑traded funds also saw a surge, drawing ₹4,450 crore in September—up 71.4% from ₹2,597 crore in August.
The inflow pattern suggests a tilt toward higher‑yield equity schemes, potentially lifting NAVs in the coming weeks. Investors will watch the next quarter’s results from top equity fund houses for signs of sustained momentum, while regulators may review pricing mechanisms if inflows continue to accelerate.
