Avalanche buried a tent at the base camp of the 7,126‑metre Himlung Himal, killing two climbers and leaving ten missing, police said on Sunday.
The 12 people who went missing were Nepalese nationals from two trekking companies—Himalayan Holidays Nepal and Imagine Nepal Treks—who had been sheltering in a tent when the snow surge hit.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa confirmed the bodies were recovered later that day and called for a helicopter to aid the search.
The director general of the Department of Tourism, Ram Krishna Lamichhane, said authorities were monitoring the situation closely amid ongoing heavy rain and snowfall that have triggered landslides across the region.
Rescue teams are still combing the slopes, and a briefing is slated for tomorrow to outline the next steps.
