The debut of Jio Platforms on the NSE and BSE was nothing short of a spectacle, with the IPO priced at ₹1360 per share pulling in ₹4.4 trillion from a 40x oversubscription, a figure that comfortably eclipses the consensus of ₹3.5 trillion analysts had pencilled in.
Zarin Daruwala, CEO of PL Capital Group, said the strong institutional demand reflects a broader global appetite for high‑quality Indian businesses. He added that the digital ecosystem and future services such as AI, cloud and broadband are the magnets pulling investors.
Naina Lal Kidwai, chair of Rothschild & Co India, highlighted how the pricing of the issue was calibrated to deliver value for investors, pointing out that even in a volatile market, the depth of India's capital markets was clearly demonstrated.
Sanjay Parekh, founder and CIO of Sohum Asset Managers, emphasized that the success of the IPO signals confidence in well‑executed businesses. He noted that Reliance Industries, the sole beneficiary of the Independent Media Trust, stands to benefit from stronger free cash flows as its 5G investment cycle largely concludes.
Looking ahead, the company’s leadership and analysts alike are watching its expansion into AI, cloud and broadband. Guidance suggests that Jio Platforms will continue to leverage its digital platform to drive long‑term growth, keeping investors on the edge of their seats.
