The Meerut High Court delivered a unanimous death sentence to the two men accused of the Blue Drum murder on Thursday, marking the culmination of a protracted legal battle.
The Blue Drum murder, which erupted in a local dispute in 2018, had seen multiple rounds of appeals across lower courts before reaching the high court.
Families of the victims, who had been awaiting justice for years, said the verdict finally offers closure after a painful, months‑long ordeal.
Following the sentencing, the court will file the death warrants with the state governor, and the case will be referred to the Supreme Court for a final review before execution can proceed.
