Jalandhar police, in partnership with the Mumbai Anti‑Terrorism Squad, hauled Jobanpreet into custody on May 28 after a sting that traced his role in a weapon supply chain linked to the killing of Punjabi influencer Mad Sandhu.
The 32‑year‑old Mumbai resident was found with three pistols, five magazines and 11 cartridges. He also admitted to orchestrating three separate shoot‑outs tied to extortion in Tarn Taran, authorities said.
Jobanpreet is believed to have acted as a middleman for foreign‑based handlers, moving funds and logistics to the shooters. The arrest, prosecutors say, opens a new chapter in mapping the conspiracy that brought guns to Amritsar.
Punjab police are now probing the broader network, tracing both upstream financiers and downstream targets. They expect a press conference next week to announce further arrests, officials said.
