In a statement released today, the Fremont Hindu Temple & Cultural Center said it had identified Aditi and Arijit Date as the group behind 25 noise complaints lodged with the city.
The temple, founded by Dr. Romesh K. Japra, has served as a spiritual and cultural hub for over four decades, hosting thousands of families in Fremont, California.
Complainants cited late‑night prayers, large crowds, and parking congestion as the root of the disturbances, a pattern that mirrored earlier disputes over Diwali and Holi celebrations.
Dr. Japra added that the temple has repeatedly sought to arrange meetings with the couple and city officials, but those talks have stalled. He noted that major festivals have already been relocated to larger venues within the city to mitigate noise and traffic.
Local resident Maya Patel, who attends the temple’s Sunday morning service, said the community benefits from the temple’s outreach programs, especially for children learning Sanskrit and yoga. She added that residents want to balance cultural expression with neighborhood peace.
The temple’s statement ends with a call for a joint meeting scheduled for next month, where officials will discuss possible adjustments to event timing and parking permits to address the complaints while preserving cultural traditions.
