Shatrudhan Yadav, an Army soldier from Sahuka village in Kaimur district, succumbed to severe burns on Wednesday after an alleged attack eight days prior. He first received treatment at Varanasi Trauma Centre before being transferred to the Army Hospital in Lucknow, where he died.
Thousands of villagers marched from Sahuka to Ramgarh the next day, blocking Durga Chowk for about five hours and chanting slogans demanding swift action against the perpetrators and police failures. Some protesters gathered near the police station, threatening a siege.
SP Shikhar Chaudhary assured the crowd that those found guilty would face strict punishment and that an inquiry into the Station House Officer would be launched. Seven individuals have been named as accused; three have been arrested and are now in custody, while four remain at large.
After the SP's assurances, demonstrators dispersed, restoring normal traffic flow. Police continue to investigate the incident and the financial dispute underlying the attack.
Yadav's wife, 32, said the loss has left her and her two children in shock, illustrating the human cost of the tragedy.
