Matt Rogers, the son of late former Dreyer’s Ice Cream CEO T. Gary Rogers, put the 151‑acre La Herradura Ranch on the market on September 18, listing it for $35 million through Coldwell Banker’s Erin Lail.
The St. Helena property retains 25 acres of vineyards, a private lake and a 4,000‑sq‑ft stone winery built in 1887, now restored to hold roughly 100 guests.
Rogers acquired the ranch in 2008, uncovered the hidden winery beneath a 1950s barn, and oversaw its restoration with new electrical, plumbing and flooring. The 1887 structure now serves as a venue for fundraisers and comedy shows.
Matt and wife Amy completed a new 2,500‑sq‑ft main house in 2024 and replanted the vines in 2020, focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a half‑acre Sauvignon Blanc plot.
The estate previously attracted Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, who turned down the purchase over cattle on the land, illustrating the property’s blend of luxury and rustic heritage.
Potential buyers can expect a full inspection by early October, with the Rogers family ready to close the sale within 60 days if an offer meets the $35 million price.
