Shares of United Spirits slid 2.85% to ₹1,229 on the BSE, after the company reported earnings that missed consensus estimates. The firm posted revenue of ₹3,258 crore, up 2.8% YoY but shy of the ₹3,348 crore expectation.
The EBITDA figure was ₹643 crore, down 4.3% YoY yet exceeding the ₹637 crore poll. The margin settled at 19.7%, a dip from 21.2% in the prior year but still above the 19% consensus. Prestige & Above segment grew 6.3% in NSV, propelled by Smirnoff local flavours and a J&B Scotch relaunch, while Popular segment contracted 22.7% due to regulatory headwinds in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
A&P reinvestment hit 11.6% of NSV, up from 7.6% a year earlier, signalling intensified brand spend ahead of the festive season. Finance costs rose to ₹24 crore, largely unchanged from the previous quarter. Net profit margin settled at 14.2%.
CEO Praveen Someshwar said the company remains resilient despite a strong prior‑year base and regulatory headwinds, and highlighted the launch of Smirnoff Ice in the ready‑to‑drink category. He expressed confidence heading into the festive quarter, citing the relaunch of J&B Scotch under the India‑UK FTA as a key growth lever.
