Chennai police booked 84‑year‑old granite baron R. Veeramani on a second POCSO charge Wednesday after a woman alleged sexual harassment of her minor daughter.
Veeramani, whose granite empire spans southern India, had previously faced a POCSO complaint in 2024 that was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
The complainant, Ms. Latha, said her 12‑year‑old daughter was subjected to repeated inappropriate remarks and physical contact during a scheduled quarry visit, and police seized evidence and are conducting a forensic interview.
The case is now pending in the Subordinate Court of Chennai, where a hearing is slated for June 5, and prosecutors plan to file formal charges after completing the investigation.
