A parking dispute over a vacant plot near a banyan tree in Saadatganj erupted into a deadly gun battle early Monday morning.
The altercation involved residents of two adjoining families, one of whom had parked a car adjacent to the proposed platform for prayers. Shukla, a 30‑year‑old former Merchant Navy navigation officer, opposed the construction and confronted the driver.
When the argument flared, Shukla fired a handgun, killing Shivaji, Shivendra and Suyash Tiwari, three brothers who were also local shopkeepers.
Police seized the 9mm pistol and four spent cartridges at the scene. Commissioner Tarun Gaba confirmed the weapon will be forwarded to the forensic laboratory for ballistic analysis.
The Samajwadi Party immediately condemned the incident, accusing the BJP government of failing to maintain law and order in the capital.
Residents nearby mourn the loss of the Tiwari brothers, who had been active in the community, while Shukla faces charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
