On Oct 27, Twitch streamer AriGameplays posted a heartfelt tribute to Komanche after the creator was found dead at his rental home in Monterrey, Nuevo León, on Oct 25. The death is currently under investigation, and Komanche’s final X post has amassed more than nine million views.
Komanche, whose real name was Carlos Mauricio Gómez, built a following on Twitch and YouTube with comedic gaming streams and the Squid Craft Games, a Minecraft event inspired by the Netflix series. He was especially popular among Spanish‑speaking creators and had openly discussed his mental‑health struggles.
In an Instagram post dated Oct 27, AriGameplays recalled the friendship that grew into a brotherly bond, saying, ‘Komanche, nobody prepared me to live with the pain of no longer having you.’ She also thanked the Monterrey family who welcomed him as one of their own.
On Oct 19, Komanche posted, ‘The days just don’t get any better,’ a line that resonated with fans and quickly went viral, gathering nine million views before his death. The post has sparked renewed attention to his earlier candid discussions about depression and anxiety.
Neighbors reported that the rental house’s main door had been left open, prompting police to investigate possible foul play. Nuevo León authorities have yet to confirm the cause of death, with a coroner’s report expected later this week.
The gaming community, led by Ari, continues to mourn, holding virtual vigils and sharing memories online. AriGameplays plans to release a tribute video on her channel, and the authorities are scheduled to issue a statement by Friday.
