IndiGo announced on Monday it will raise fuel charges for all new domestic and international bookings from 6 October 2026, citing a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel prices.
Domestic fares will now carry an extra fee that scales with distance: 0–500 km adds ₹375, 501–1,000 km ₹600, 1,001–1,500 km ₹900, 1,501–2,000 km ₹1,150, and over 2,000 km ₹1,300.
International itineraries will see a surcharge between ₹1,000 for short‑haul routes and ₹10,000 for long‑haul flights, reflecting the 14 % month‑on‑month jump in ATF costs.
The hike follows sustained volatility in global oil markets amid Middle East tensions, pushing ATF to levels unseen in a decade. IndiGo said the adjustment is necessary to maintain profitability and keep its network viable.
