The blaze erupted around 6.30 a.m. Saturday at TUPTUP Resto and Resort, a three‑storey bamboo‑and‑wood complex on Marine Drive in Inani, Cox’s Bazar.
Deputy Assistant Director Syed Muhammad Morshed Hossain said the entire structure had been gutted, leaving no survivors inside when emergency crews arrived.
Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner A Mannan confirmed six bodies had been recovered so far and that DNA samples would be taken before the remains were handed over to families.
At Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, resident medical officer Sabuktagin Mahmud Sohel reported five burn victims covering roughly 5 % of their bodies, while a sixth patient was treated for a fall and discharged after first aid.
Around 30 people were at the resort when the fire broke out; only four to five escaped, and the whereabouts of the remaining guests remain unknown.
Fire investigators are still probing the cause, with authorities promising to keep families updated as the DNA analysis and recovery process continue.
